Trondheim Airport is at Værnes, in Stjørdal, east of the city.
A campervan handover here sits on the useful side of town if you are already going north on the E6 or east into the valleys, and on the awkward side if the cathedral was meant to be the first picture. You can still drive in, but the first junction is a highway one. Winter on this part of the coast is wet and icy more often than it is high-alpine drama.
This page is the airport, not the riverside city depot. Driving is on the right. The surrounding villages are not extra handover desks.
If the city matters, do it as a planned stop with a place to leave the van, not as a loop between runway and river before a long northbound leg.
Late arrivals should sleep near Stjørdal or a short hop up the road. The Arctic is not this evening’s destination.
