Campervan rental in Tenerife

You reach it by a long ocean ferry from the mainland or, more often, by flying and collecting a van that never leaves the Canaries. Two motorways do the ordinary work: TF-1 along the drier south, TF-5 along the greener north. Between them the road over Teide, the TF-21, crosses the caldera in a high, bright day that must end outside the national park. Overnight stays in the park are not a campervan improvisation.

The Anaga mountains in the northeast and the Teno massif in the northwest are the narrow exceptions, green, steep and frequently the wrong width for a large motorhome. Resorts in the south are a supply, not the point. Sleep legally on the lower slopes, drive the caldera when the cloud is kind, and remember that a breakdown of plans cannot be solved by heading for Madrid. The sea is the border.
