Plan your pickup and your first stop
Barcelona’s low-emission zone covers the streets most visitors want to see, and the Gothic quarter would refuse a campervan even without it.
The city is a metro and walking day: the Ramblas, the Eixample grid, the seafront. The van sleeps outside the zone and earns its keep on the road to Montserrat, through the Penedès vineyards, or along the coast only as far as the towns remain wide enough. Sitges one way and the edge of the Costa Brava the other are popular and quickly crowded.
This is Catalonia, not the meseta. The climate is Mediterranean, the hills arrive fast, and the island of Mallorca, if it is on the same holiday, is a ferry from the port rather than a continuation of the ring road. Keep those as separate chapters. A motorhome in the superblocks is not a chapter at all.
Register or route around the low-emission zone before you follow a pin to a famous building. The rule is about entering, not about how briefly.
Montserrat’s upper access is a sequence of bends and coaches. Park where the signs still smile at your height and take the rack railway or the walk.
