Plan your pickup and your first stop
Seville Airport, San Pablo, sits northeast of the city on the Guadalquivir plain.
The handover is at the airport, in the heat and the open light, not in a barrio beside the cathedral. From here the natural roads run toward Carmona, east to Córdoba, or into the Sierra Norte, all of them without a required passage through Santa Cruz. That is the point of starting on this side.
The same sun that makes the orange trees famous will be on the cab during the briefing. A first night on the plain, with shade and a short transfer, is worth more than a heroic same-day loop of the monuments. See Seville later, on foot, when the van is already somewhere legal and cool enough to return to.
Drink water and shade the cab before you discuss a long first hop. The handover is already hot for much of the year.
Aim the exit northeast or east and refuse a first pin in Santa Cruz. Córdoba is a fine next day; it is a long one after a late flight.
Flying back from San Pablo, sleep on the same northeast plain. A last night deep in the sierra turns a short airport run into a mountain dawn.
