Hiring a campervan in Seville

Seville’s cathedral, its palace and the Santa Cruz quarter are a dense walking city beside the Guadalquivir.

Summer heat is not a detail; it is the main character, and a campervan left in the sun becomes an oven while you are still looking for a bay that does not exist in the old alleys. The centre is restricted and simply too tight. Sleep on the plain outside, move in the morning, and treat Córdoba to the east or the edges of Doñana to the south as separate drives with their own access rules.

Holy Week and the April fair rewrite the city: closures, crowds, and nights when a casual pitch near the river is a fantasy. Outside those weeks the plain is an easy, hot, beautiful drive, closer in spirit to the lower meseta than to the green north, and nothing like an island road. Come for the morning light. Be gone, or at least parked in shade, by the time the stone starts to radiate.

A few things worth knowing

Do not enter Santa Cruz or follow a pin to the cathedral steps. The visit begins when you get out.

Plan around the heat: drive early, rest at the pitch through the worst hours, walk the city at the edges of the day.

If your dates touch the fair or Holy Week, arrange the night long before you arrive. Those weeks are a different Seville, and a motorhome without a pitch is unwelcome in all of them.
