Plan your pickup and your first stop
Lugo keeps one of the most complete Roman wall circuits in Europe, and the pleasure is to walk the top of it.
Inside, the streets are a small historic city, not a campervan ring. The Miño country around is green, agricultural and quiet, the interior of Galicia rather than the Rías Baixas beaches. It rains, the distances to the coast are real, and the Camino passes nearby as a foot route you should not try to drive in sympathy.
Use Lugo as a calm night and a wall walk between the Galician coast and the meseta further east. The van is happy on the outer avenues and the valley roads. It is not happy under the gates. Sleep outside, climb the stairs, and look down on the roofs you correctly refused to drive among.
Park outside and walk up. The wall circuit is the visit; the gates are not a driving tour.
Inland Galicia is wet and short on glamorous service areas. Fill water when you see a proper point, and carry a layer even in August.
If you are shadowing the Camino, stay on the ordinary roads and let pilgrims have the track. A motorhome on a walking path is the local villain.
