Plan your pickup and your first stop
Ravensburg keeps its medieval gates and the Mehlsack tower for a walking hour.
The campervan joins the Schussental, the valley that runs south toward Weingarten, Friedrichshafen and Lake Constance. Ganterhofstraße sits off the old centre, which is where a handover ought to be. The B30 continues north toward Ulm through Upper Swabia. Lindau and the western lake are a separate commitment along the shore.
The gates are narrow and the old-town streets are a pedestrian idea with occasional deliveries. You will not improve the tower by driving under it. The lake, once the valley opens, is ferries, vineyards and a lot of fine-weather traffic. Upper Swabia to the north is softer: farms, abbeys and fewer people in a hurry.
Leave by the valley road, not by a pin on the Mehlsack. The tower is a landmark for people who are already parked.
Lake-shore pitches from Friedrichshafen to Lindau need a reservation in summer. The valley can look empty at the Ravensburg end and be full at the water.
Ferry plans along the lake, including anything toward Meersburg, are vehicle bookings. A tall van is a reservation, not a passenger.
