Grube (bei Lübeck) is a village in Ostholstein, on the inland side of the Baltic bays, and the handover happens there rather than under Lübeck's Holsten Gate.
The supplier label ties it to Lübeck, but the driving reality is hedges, farms and a short run to resorts such as Grömitz, Dahme and Großenbrode. The sea is close. The Hanseatic island town is a separate journey west.
This is flat, windy country. The Fehmarnbelt crossing, when you want the island, is a vehicle trip of its own, not a spur you add at dusk. Inland, the Holstein lake plateau around Eutin and Plön is the other direction, wooded and scattered with manor houses. Neither direction needs a city centre to justify the day.
Point the navigation at a bay or at a lake town, not at Lübeck's old-town island. You can visit the gate later from a mainland car park.
Book the Fehmarn vehicle crossing separately if the island is tonight's target. Showing up with a tall van in a holiday queue is how the first evening disappears.
Wind on the sea wall is stronger than the forecast in the village suggests. A high profile needs a pitch with some shelter, and the beach car parks are for the day, not the night.
