Evreux is a cathedral city on the Iton, in the Eure, roughly between Paris and Rouen.

It is not a resort and not a ferry port. For a campervan it is a useful, ordinary Norman town: a place to resupply, walk a Gothic nave, and sleep in countryside that is neither the Paris low-emission zone nor the chalk chaos of the Seine quays in Rouen.

The surrounding country is the Norman Vexin and the upper Eure, with gentle valleys rather than the landing beaches. If the trip’s contrast is Provence versus Normandy, Évreux is the quiet version of the north: brick and timber, river mist, and roads that wander toward Gisors or the Seine without demanding a coastal timetable. Use it as a hinge, then go to Rouen or the capital on purpose.
