ROOM FOR YOUR KIND OF TRIP
Think about who is coming and how you like to travel. Check sleeping spaces, travel seats, kitchen equipment and luggage storage when choosing your campervan.
Plan your pickup and your first stop
Galway is the west’s walking city, with a centre of pedestrian streets that a motorhome should not enter.
The reason to collect a campervan here is the country outside: Connemara, the Sky Road beyond Clifden, the Burren to the south, and the coast toward the Cliffs of Moher. The Aran Islands ferry from Rossaveel carries people. The van stays on the mainland at a proper site while you sail.
Rain and Atlantic wind are the normal forecast. Many of the beautiful roads are narrow, walled and slow. Driving is on the left. A Galway handover is one depot, not a key collection on every street in Salthill.
Park at the edge or at your site and walk into Galway. Use the driving day for Clifden or the Burren, not for a lap of Shop Street.
Check passing places and your own length before the Sky Road or any boreen that looked wide in a photo. If in doubt, choose the larger coast road.
Book summer sites, expect rain, and treat the Aran crossing as a foot-passenger plan with the van left legally overnight.
Your next adventure is a few clicks away.
