Zagreb sits under Medvednica, and a camper here is a way to leave: southwest toward Plitvice, north into the Zagorje hills, or south to the coast on the motorway.

Dolac market and the upper town are a walk from a vehicle you have already parked outside the centre. The airport at Pleso is southeast, on the flatter approach.

There is no ferry to organise and no walled sea-town to circumnavigate. There is a capital’s traffic, a mountain behind the suburbs, and a first scenic park that fills with people who also left the city that morning.
