You enter at Pile Gate and walk the Stradun. A camper has no errand inside the walls. The practical map is the port at Gruž, the airport at Čilipi to the south, and the steep road up to Srđ, which is a viewpoint and a cable-car trip.

Coming from Split, the Pelješac Bridge keeps the drive inside Croatia. The shore alternative still crosses at Neum, with two border posts and a queue that summer timetables understate. Either way, the night is north or south of the walls, on a pitch with room to turn.

A few things worth knowing

  1. 01

Sleep away from the cliff roads above the walls. Those lanes are for the view, and a poor place to spend the night.

  2. 02

Čilipi is the flight handover. Confirm the collection point is the airport area, and keep daylight for the short, busy drive back toward a pitch.

  3. 03

If you came down the coast, add time for the bridge or for the Neum posts. A map minute is a generous estimate in July.
