ROOM FOR YOUR KIND OF TRIP
Think about who is coming and how you like to travel. Check sleeping spaces, travel seats, kitchen equipment and luggage storage when choosing your campervan.
Plan your pickup and your first stop
Helsinki Airport sits in Vantaa, north of the capital, and a campervan handover here is a highway decision rather than a harbour one.
The first junctions can send you back south into Helsinki, west toward Turku, or north toward Tampere and, eventually, the long road to Lapland. You do not begin beside the ferry terminals, and you do not thread Senate Square to start the trip.
Winter operations and de-icing delays can shrink the driving day before you have left the airport roads. The light in midwinter ends early. This page is the airport desk, not the city depot, and not a collection point in the surrounding suburbs.
Look at the arrival time after delays, not the scheduled one, before you promise a lakeside night far up the road. A late keys handover and a long northern leg do not belong in the same evening.
Confirm which lot or desk is the handover, and which ring-road ramp matches your route. Reversing the decision costs more time than the Vantaa distance suggests.
In snow, take the first hour slowly even if the highway looks clear from the terminal window. Book the first site in the direction you are driving, not back under a flight path.
