Aabenraa is a small harbour town at the head of a fjord in southern Jutland, a few minutes from the German border around Padborg.
It works as a first or last Danish night when the camper is crossing from the south. The centre is modest, the water is the view, and the E45 makes the town easy to reach and easy to leave.
Wind on the fjord can make a waterfront pitch colder than the forecast in the square. An edge-of-town site, still close to the harbour walk, often sleeps better.
Keep passports and the rental papers ready. The border is close even when checks are light.
Shop on the side of the border where the next day’s cupboards make sense, and fill fuel before the crossing if the next stations are unfamiliar.
