Hiring a campervan in Krakow

Krakow is the city collection, wrapped around a compact old town, Wawel hill, and a ring of streets where the walls used to stand.

That core is for walking. A campervan can use the wider approaches and the visitor car parks, then it should leave. The drives worth taking run outward: toward the Tatra Mountains, the short side visit to Wieliczka, or the countryside of Lesser Poland. The square is not a driving attraction.

Krakow Airport is the other named handover, outside the city. Landing there and collecting in town means you cross the urban area for no gain. Collecting in town makes sense when Krakow itself is the arrival, by train or from another Polish city, and you want one walk before the mountains.

A few things worth knowing

  1. 01

Park for the old town and walk. Do not circulate the square in a motorhome.

  2. 02

If the flight is the arrival, use the Krakow Airport collection and decide afterward whether the city is worth entering.

  3. 03

Tatra valley towns fill in season. Fix the overnight before you drive south into a valley that has run out of room.
