Plan your pickup and your first stop
Scotland is a region, not a single city, and the pickup point changes the first day.
Edinburgh and Glasgow are the common handovers for travelers arriving by train or air. Inverness is the shorter start for the North Coast, at the cost of a longer arrival. Single-track roads with passing places are normal in the Highlands. A smaller motorhome is less stressful there than a large coachbuilt vehicle.
Overnight parking is not the same as wild camping. Many glens, lay-bys and islands restrict overnight stays, and ferry crossings need a vehicle booking of their own. This guide is here so you can choose a category and a pickup city before you continue. It does not hold a camper or quote a week rate.
Match the pickup to your arrival airport or station, then add driving time before the first night.
Check ferry dates separately. Fuel type, mileage caps and insurance excess are on the partner site. An inactive demonstration offer is not a contract and is not listed as one.
