San Francisco is the city collection on steep hills, with bridges, scarce parking, and grades that punish a long motorhome.
The famous views are walks from a car park chosen for height and legality. Yosemite National Park is east, a long drive into the Sierra that can slow further at a pass, at a reservation window, or in ordinary end-of-week traffic. Muir Woods is a near redwood visit and is not Redwood National Park, which is a long way up the coast. Point Reyes National Seashore is a nearer shore. None of them shares an afternoon with a downtown arrival.
The named handover is San Francisco. It is not a neighbourhood depot and not a valley trailhead. Cross a bridge you have checked for the vehicle, then stop.
Leave San Francisco before sightseeing in the van. Use a legal car park and walk the viewpoint.
Give Yosemite a travel day and a reserved night. Do not clip it onto a bridge-and-wharf morning.
