Hiring a campervan in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is the city collection in the Mojave, and the Strip is a place to park away from, or to skip.

The campervan reasons to be here are national parks that do not share a direction. Zion National Park is a desert drive into Utah. The South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is another long leg, not the same morning. Death Valley National Park is a third way, striking and risky in heat. Two of them in a short week means a travel day between, not a loop before dinner. Empty map miles are empty for a reason.

Summer heat can make midday travel in a van unwise. The collection is Las Vegas, the city name. It is not a casino forecourt and not a park gate.

A few things worth knowing

  1. 01

Read the forecast before any Death Valley day, and do not add it casually in extreme heat.

  2. 02

If you insist on both Zion and the South Rim, put a night between them.

  3. 03

Book the park-edge overnight before you leave the city. Arriving at dusk without a pitch is the desert mistake.
